The Rolling Donut

I've had my fair share of donuts growing up, especially in high school when I topped out at 260lbs+. But have you ever walked past those fancy donut shops with the clean, perfectly laid-out toppings and just wondered what they tasted like?

Well, curiosity got the best of us.

Tammy and I decided to pop into The Rolling Donut and ordered a box of 3 for €8. That's roughly $11 CAD for 3 donuts. My Canadian friends must be dropping Timbits at the sound of those prices.

What exactly did we order? Check them out! We made sure to be thorough with our photos:

1) Peanut Butter and Chocolate

Tammy's normally not a fan of filled donuts. She says the only time she'll eat one is if it's a jam donut. Well, seeing as one of her favourite combinations in the world is chocolate and peanut butter, we had to give this a whirl.

The dough of the donut is soft, perfectly dense and there's a generous amount of filling. It's a Reese's fan's dream. The filling is a little thick, and takes a bit of effort to get through. It's well worth it.

This donut has got chocolate icing on top with crushed peanuts, and it's got more of a massive PB+Choc ganache filling. If only Purdys could make a Peanut Butter and Chocolate hedgehog that tasted like this!

I give the Peanut Butter and Chocolate a damn-son-that's-a-lot-of-filling 6.5 / 10

2) Coffee Lovers

This was by far the one I was looking forward to the most. I love coffee, and I love coffee-flavoured sweet things. The white icing on top was the only confusing part to me, as coffee is a dark-brown colour to me. But, either way, I was down to stuff this in my face.

The inner filling looks way more like the colour of a coffee with a bit of (coconut) milk added to it. It reminded me of a coffee icing, with a slight aftertaste of a coffee liqueur. The filling had a thinner viscosity than the PB+Choc, but to me it tasted so much better. This is essentially the best filled donut I've ever tasted, outside of a Breka jam donut.

3) Banoffee

Third, we got ready for the Banoffee. What the f&ck is Banoffee? Hell if I knew. I've never had it before, but Tammy explained to me that it's a combination of Toffee and Banana. Why haven't I heard of this before?

The inside of the donut smelled like bananas and mixed together it smelled like a banana-bread-icing-donut mixture. It smelled heavenly.

The taste was new to me, and different. The only drawback is I wish there was more of it! Sadly, this donut didn't have as much filling as the last two, but the taste was spot on. This would rank with the elite Coffee Lovers if it just had a bit more filling in it!

I give the Banoffee a you-won't-get-a-treat-like-this-at-Tim-Hortons 7.0 / 10
